Before we get to the full General Selection breakdown tomorrow, we've taken a long look at the appointment times and the numbers Housing provided to us yesterday and we have noticed some discrepancies.
This is our breakdown of the statistics: Correction: An earlier version of this article had the Furnald cutoff at 113. It should actually be around 170.
The Furnald cutoff will almost definitely be around 170. The reason for this discrepancy is that Housing originally didn't factor in the sophomores with point values between 10 to 20. There are 39 Furnald singles available and 25 sophomores with a point value above 10. Since almost all sophomores will prefer a Furnald single over a blind double in the shaft, the sophomores with mixed-point values will eat almost all the Furnald singles. The one hope for 10-pointers is that Housing cannot confirm with absolute certainty that these 10-20 point value sophomores will be eligible for Furnald, but if we take recent years as the precedent, they should be allowed to pick into them. After the mixed-point values pick, the remaining eight (39-31=8) singles left will be eaten by the [very, (very), very] few lucky 10-pointers.
Most of the sophomore class in General Selection will be on the Sophomore Waitlist. Here's the breakdown:
