I am not exactly a fan of student council, which I frequently, if not originally, dismiss as an assembly of glorified party planners who don't actually realize their own limited function within the school. (Although I was an events coordinator for my class council for one semester. Those turkeys made out of Oreos, Reese's Pieces, and candy corn given out the Thanksgiving before last? All me, baby!) And don't even get me started on the University Senate (a pox upon the academic calendar!).
Having said that, I sincerely congratulate everyone who was elected in to serve on the council for the upcoming academic year. More importantly, congratulations to everyone who threw his hat in the ring. Most importantly, congratulations to everyone who voted. Why? I'm so glad you asked.
