In this week's installment, blogger Raphael Pope-Sussman and columnist Alexandra Katz discuss tidbits of knowledge they've picked up over their years at Columbia. Click here for the last installment of bloggerheads.
Raphael: So what's the most important thing for a prospie to know about Columbia? Other than the fact that they keep the lawns closed 300 days a year and that the campus is an icy deathtrap all winter...
Alex: I'm going to have to fight the urge to get all nostalgic, but if I do, give me a break—I'm graduating in a month. I think it's important for incoming students to understand Columbia's location. You might tell your family and friends at other colleges that you go to school in Harlem (it gives you street credit), but Columbia is actually located in Morningside Heights. While your friends from NYU will struggle to understand that anything above 14th street even exists and perhaps neglect to travel uptown, you should avoid making the same mistake. Explore Harlem and the areas around Columbia, and get to know your neighbors!
