So yesterday I read that the University Senate may vote later this month on a confidentiality resolution. This would make senate committee meetings closed to the public, though committees would be allowed to open all or some of any meeting to the public. Oh, yes. And the minutes would be closed to the public for 50 years.
One member of the senate said that this resolution actually maintains current senate policy, and that the senators are "just being explicit about it." And I have no doubt that some senators honestly agree with that sentiment. But I, too, would like to make something explicit.
