Tonight, as selected by the Academic Awards Committee, Art Hum professor extraordinaire (and director of Art Hum!), Holger Klein, will be awarded with the Mark Van Doren Award, which honors a Columbia professor for "his/her commitment to undergraduate instruction," and English professor James Shapiro will receive the Lionel Trilling Award, which honors a professor for a book he has written. For Shapiro, AAC really liked his book Contested Will: Who Wrote Shakespeare?
