LIVEBLOG: The great Gulati camp-out

Some of you may not know, but every fall econ professor and U.S. Soccer Federation President Sunil Gulati teaches a seminar for seniors titled “Sports Economics.” There are few chances to take classes on sports at Columbia, and Gulati’s credentials to teach one are rather impressive [and previous guest speakers include: David Stern (Commissioner-NBA), Tom Clark (Former President, Nike), Jonathan Kraft (President, NE Patriots), David Downs (Former President, Univision Sports), Bob Batterman (General Counsel, NHL), Dave Checketts (Owner, St. Louis Blues/Real Salt Lake), Rick Dudley (President, Octagon) and Mark Abbott (President, MLS)]. As a result, the 15 spots in the class are in huge demand. How do you get in? Ten of the spots are filled by the first people in line at his office at 9 a.m. tomorrow. The other five must go through an interview process. Therefore, people camp out to ensure their spots. I'll be here (hopefully not all night) keeping you informed about what's going on.
