An interesting column by Jared Odessky appeared about a week ago in Spectator. It's worth reading yourself, but to recap, the article argued that Columbia's Double Discovery Center, which recruits Columbia students to volunteer in low-performing schools, has lost focus. Instead of working to foster excitement for learning in the students it serves, the DDC has climbed aboard the standardized test prep train.
