As class registration begins to wind down and flyers advertising cheaply sold textbooks become increasingly less visible, a new type of elevator spam has arrived: first year elections posters! That’s right freshmen, it’s time to vote for the team who you feel will best represent your college needs. The CCSC 2015 council teams are already looking to win your vote, creating Facebook pages and YouTube videos in order to tell a bit about themselves.
If you’re a bit overwhelmed by all of this election stuff, a simpler way to get to know each team is to look at their name. This year, team names can simply be grouped into two categories: “Columbia-themed” and “other.” Some teams, like The Core of Four and The Freshman ’15, attempted to be “punny,” while others, such as Morningside Pride and Alma Matters, chose to keep it classic. Most of the team names failed to hint at any clear platform, but one in particular, Sick Party, was a bit of a head-scratcher. Check out the full list of CCSC candidates after the jump.
