Ever consider turning your dorm room into an art gallery? Well, artist, vocalist, and former bike messenger Cary Gang may be far past dorm days, but she's turned her apartment right by campus into an innovative gallery space.
At 501 W. 110th St., #5D, Gang's abstract paintings and upstairs neighbor Nan Melville's photographs hang on every surface available: the cream walls of the entryway, propped against windows, above the fireplace of Gang's paint-splattered studio, on the side of wicker baskets in the bathroom space. The apartment is spacious but maze-like, and Gang plays a warm gallery host with ample offerings of food and snack. Open houses of the gallery ended this weekend, but to make an appointment to see the space, contact Gang at carygang@gmail.com. Review and slideshow of the gallery space after the jump.
