What do you get when you cross Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 with the frenzy of Occupy Wall Street activism? You get the annual "illegal" Broadway Bomb event, a skating race across Manhattan. According to the event's website, there are over 1,000 skaters registered to "skate through 150 traffic lights, 100,000 pedestrians, road blocks, road kill and the good ole police."
The race began at noon at 116th and Broadway and is set to end at the Charging Bull statue at Bowling Green. All in all, it seems like an extremely dangerous way to get your adrenaline going. For those of you thrill seekers who aren't in the mood to get clocked by a taxi door, we recommend a few safer alternatives on this sunny day, such as: riding the 1 train and not holding onto the rail, eating Roti Roll for lunch, or starting to cross the street when the red hand has already begun flashing.
