What to show (and hide from) your parents this weekend

It’s Parents Weekend at Columbia University and this is the first time many parents are coming back onto campus since move-in day. For many freshmen, this will be the first time they are seeing their parents since they left home, and it will provide them an opportunity to share their college experience. Here's a quick guide of what and what not to show your parents this weekend.

Show! The Libraries: Tuition at Columbia University is expensive, the most expensive in all the Ivy League, so your parents probably expect you to study. How better to show your studious side than by giving them a detailed tour of the libraries of Columbia? Not only do we have 22 libraries, each of them has their own unique environment and architecture that will be a delight to share. Bonus: Showing your parents study rooms at the various libraries and being able to speak in detail about how often you utilize them.

Don’t Show! The Stacks: The stacks are one of the most interesting places on campus. It could be interesting to show your parents the rich well of academic resources you have at your disposal, but you also run the risk of walking in on students in the midst of Butler sex.
