Today I went to my very first Columbia sporting event. I am also a senior. No, I’m not a sports and spirit hater—I was a two-sport varsity athlete in high school. Furthermore, I was born and bred in Columbus, Ohio, heart of the Big Ten "Buckeye Nation." I’m used to the College football of The Horseshoe, where fans pack in by the hundred-thousands, and tailgates of even more hundreds of thousands span the many miles of our Midwestern metropolis and beyond. In short, I’m used to a college football that draws more fervor than most professional teams. Even my high school stadium rivals the size and attendance of a Baker Field event. So, I thought, my reason for never making to it a game here was based on a presumption that it wouldn’t measure up.
