CCE is coming to us?

In an email today Columbia Career Services promoted their CCE Comes to You! event taking place next Friday, October 28 from 6-8 p.m. in the Wien lobby. This program comes following last week's News story by Emma Goss about the continued success of Barnard's Career Development Office, which ranked better nationally than CCE in a survey by the Princeton Review.

The results of the Princeton Review rankings, based on the results of a five point survey taken by students at their respective universities, placed BCD fifth in Princeton's annual "376 Best College's" listing. Columbia, on the other hand, came in 20th. This is the second year in a row BCD has ranked fifth in the review.

Student reactions to both rankings were mixed, with students supporting or criticizing the offices on both sides. About CCE Joseph Rozenshtein, CC ’12, said, “If you wander in and you have no idea and you just want someone to do something for you, I don’t think they would know what you want, and so you’re going to come out disappointed." And Lis Catro, BC ’13, commented about BCD, “I’m more than satisfied just because I know whenever I go I might have to wait five or 10 minutes, but someone’s always there to take care of me.”

The CCE program promises free food at the event where, "You can individually select between a Maoz falafel sandwich or Domino's pizza when you RSVP." Despite how Columbians might have responded on their surveys, it seems CCE understands at least one way to appeal to us—bribery. The event is limited to 100 students, and RSVP is necessary (at least if you want food!). Full email below:
