'I've got bad news and good news': Weekend in sports roundup

This weekend was fairly important for more Lions teams than football, as both field hockey and volleyball played important matches against Yale, and cross country ran their most important meet of the season at the 2011 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. Plus, one Ivy football team ended a huge winning streak—if you've been following any of sports' football coverage lately on Spectrum, I'm sure you know what team I mean. But first and foremost, let's get this special weekend sports roundup started with the bad news...

Field Hockey

The ladies came into their game on Friday tied for first place in their chase for the Ivy title, but came away with a disappointing 3-1 loss to Yale. The defeat moves them back into second place with an Ivy record of 5-2, behind first place Yale and Princeton who both have Ivy records of 6-1. Although they aren't completely out of the chase, this loss means that the Lions will need a lot of help in order to come away with first place at the end of the season.
