HBO’s well received Big Love has been nominated for Golden Globes and Emmys since its debut in 2006. Sister Wives, a TLC-produced reality show about the polygamist Brown family, drew roughly 2.5 million viewers in 2010. Then, of course, came the improbable success of the South Park writers-helmed Book of Mormon on Broadway, named after the religious text Mark Twain deemed “chloroform in print.”
