January first: a time to turn over a new leaf, to have a new beginning, to start a helpful habit or end a crummy one. Unfortunately for so many, come February, we've already moved on to other things and waved goodbye to our New Year's resolutions. But there are ways to avoid this. I asked Dean Valentini what he commits to, and he said that year after year his resolution is to follow the Buddhist proverb, "There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way." Ok, so we may not be as deep as Deantini, but it's clear that committing to something bigger than ourselves is one way to make resolutions into reality. Here are five suggestions for what to prioritize:
1. Showing your support. Pretty much every Columbian is involved in clubs and activities. Commit to making it out to a friend's performances or competitions a couple times during a semester. You'll probably enjoy yourself, and it will mean the world to your friend.
