Adventurous eats in the neighborhood

It's that time again. Classes have just started and workloads are relatively benign. Before students know it, they’ll have to write two papers, take a lab quiz, and give a presentation, all in the same week. That’s why now is as good a time as any to catch up with friends over a cheap, hearty meal. Here are three fun places close to campus:

1.Dinosaur BBQ (700 W. 125th St. at 12th Avenue)

There are things one must do in NYC. Among these is eating at the meat temple Dinosaur BBQ. The lively, slightly rowdy atmosphere is perfect for nights out with friends. However, this is not the place for a first date, since both people will be sticky with sauce and full to the brim. Order the creamy deviled eggs (6 for $6.95) and cheesy, crunchy fried green tomatoes (5 for $8.95). Follow with a platter of ridiculously tender, abundantly meaty ribs slathered with addictive sauce (a full rack, or twelve ribs, is $25.95). The full rack can easily serve three to four people. More sauce is in bottles on the tables. If there’s room to spare, order the peanut butter pie. Eating this is tantamount to having angels dancing on one’s palate.
