For the past couple of weeks, the Columbia 2015 Facebook page has been bombarded with posts from students trying to sell old textbooks for way more than people want to buy them for. I’m talking about people selling a PDF of a Calculus textbook for $60. (If you haven’t taken Calculus and can’t really put that into context, imagine someone selling the link to a website you could find with a mere Google search.)

Though I’ve come across dozens of students trying to sell their textbooks this month, I can safely say that each one of those crazies fits into one of these categories.

“You’re taking Introduction to Basket Weaving this semester? Holy Shmo. It’s settled, I’m selling you my old book. It’s, like, practically new. No, I insist. Let’s talk prices."
