UPDATED: Peña-Mora, office hours, and elections

Highlights from last night's Engineering Student Council meeting:

  • President Nate Levick, SEAS '12, said that the school has not taken an official position on the controversy surrounding Dean Feniosky Peña-Mora, noting that "there's no XYZ, black-and-white decision taken on this issue." Levick emphasized that Executive Vice Dean Donald Goldfarb is the "personal link that wasn't there before" between Peña-Mora and the faculty, adding that the controversy "wasn't a shot in the dark incident---this was going on and meant to be an internal issue, but this letter happened to be leaked and it blew up." The council fully supports Peña-Mora. Akshay Shah, SEAS '14 and president of his class, said, Peña-Mora always has "the back of students and always has taken our feedback seriously."
