Your philanthropy dollars at work

Every time I walk to class in Hamilton, I don’t think about the reading I was up all night trying to stay awake through or the arduous ascent to the icy seventh floor summit. I think about George Delacorte.

George who? He’s CC ’13. Sorry, I should say, CC 1913.

George is a former book publisher and philanthropist who died in 1991. While he was still kicking, he donated millions of dollars to create hundreds of fountains, monuments, theaters, schools, and statues around New York City, all of which added beauty or functionally to their communities—except one. And wouldn't you know it, that one happens to be sitting just south of 116th and Amsterdam.
