Today marks a major milestone in my life. No, it's not my birthday. It's not any sort of interpersonal anniversary. Nope. Today, I have been without a Facebook for one year.
And I feel fantastic. For one whole year, I haven't had a notification. I haven't had a message thread outside of my Gmail. I haven't been tagged in a photo or post. I haven't been invited to an excess of events. I haven't spent hours poring over the heavily-documented internet lives of my "friends."
But I know what you're going to say. It's what everyone says to me when they find out I don't have a Facebook: How do I function socially? How do I keep up with people? How do I contact my friends? How do I know about events? How do I, in layman's terms, have a life, or at least, a life comparable to that of a person who does have a Facebook?
