Wondering what the Manhattanville campus extension means for you? Or what to do about that staircase in Ferris? That's why we've got highlights from this week's Columbia College Student Council meeting:
Fixing Ferris: Student Services Representative Christina Fan, CC '13, and VP of Policy Ryan Cho, CC '13, proposed a resolution to replace the spiral staircase in Ferris Booth Commons. Class of 2013 Representative Elizabeth Angeles expressed concern that the resolution would allow dining to just remove the staircase, but CCSC President Aki Terasaki, CC '12, said he would add a clause to the resolution specifying that this shouldn’t be proposed as a solution.
Attack ads?: Council members debated proposed changes to the CCSC elections policy, with many representatives complaining that the Elections Board didn’t come to the meeting and hadn’t listened to the council’s suggestions from last year. University Senator Alex Frouman, CC '12, proposed allowing candidates to criticize each other’s experience and platforms, and Class of 2014 Representative Daphne Chen, a Spectator associate news editor, suggested easing restrictions on how parties could spend their money.
