I'm not about to defend the actions of William Prasifka and David Paszko this past week. What they did was disgusting, incomprehensible, and, above all, silly and pointless. However, the campus reaction in the wake of their misdeeds has been nowhere near praiseworthy either.
It's clear that Will and David acted completely rogue in their Machiavellian plan, that their antics had nothing to do with the initiatives of CUCR, the organization's core beliefs, or any of the morals or ethics of the remaining executive committee members, board members, or libertarian or conservative students on campus. In the vast majority of discussions I've seen and heard on this incident, though, most students have largely chosen to ignore this point, instead thrusting these odious actions upon all members of CUCR as well as conservative-leaning students in general.
