TV and me: The way we were

TV, I really did love you, but I don't know what's happened between us.

From my young days mindlessly soaking in Saturday-morning cartoons up to my supposedly mature days mindlessly ogling "Jersey Shore," I cherished our bond. As I went through the trials of maturing, you were my rock. Friendships ended, but "Spongebob" didn't. I outgrew hobbies, sports, and clothes, but there was always a channel airing something I considered worth seeing.

When I had nothing to do after school, a Friday night, or even a Saturday, you made me feel like less of a loser. And my parents couldn't complain about it melting my brain—I still read and got good grades. "I think Samantha may actually...learn from TV," they would say incredulously.
