What’s the best way to get Barnard students excited about coming to a long meeting? Invite the president. At last night’s Student Government Association meeting, the administrative guest was Barnard President Debora Spar, whose presence drew (non-media) student attendees to an SGA meeting for the first time all semester. Barnard around the world: Spar spoke about her uplifting experience in India at the Barnard Global Symposium last week (read the News Desk's story on the symposium here). She said the symposium made her aware of an issue she wants to tackle right away---that women are generally unwilling to take the top position in a company because they don’t want to be responsible for making unpopular decisions.
