Sometimes, I forget I even go to school in New York City. Sad, I know, but given my seemingly endless stream of U Writing assignments, Psets, assigned readings, and, of course, the "it's a school night" guilt, it feels impossible to spare a day to get off campus. But maybe a huge part of the Columbia experience is realizing that there is a world outside the boundaries of 114 to 120 streets, from Broadway to Amsterdam.
In my new series, I will get on the 1 Train and see where it takes me. Some of the places I admit will be tourist-y, be warned, and some might just be dime-a-dozen coffee shops, but hopefully these posts of an awkward freshman exploring might encourage some of you to venture out on your own in turn. That, or you could sit an your computer and salvate at my photos of waffles after the jump!
