What would you do with a spare apartment?

A few entrepreneurial students have been known to spend the majority of the year driving their roommates insane for more personal space, and it’s easy to understand why. Imagine all the possibilities a dingle room affords you: you could put the two twin beds together for an extra-spacious queen and double your wardrobe! But forget the spare bed—what would you do with a whole extra room, or not unlike Harlem congressman Charles Rangel, a whole extra apartment?

As Spectator reported, Representative Rangel used his spare apartment (he apparently only needed three, mind you) as de facto campaign office. The space in question is a rent-controlled apartment in luxury highrises on 135th and Lenox, costing Rangel about $677 a month. He settled with the Federal Election Commission out of court for $23,000.

So what would I do with a spare apartment of my own? I’m so glad you asked!
