Like most of the campus, I was somewhat surprised when the performers for Bacchanal were announced. Not only were they not from the 90s (as the theme would suggest), but they were also not recognizable names. After hearing about the headliners at other schools, I couldn't help but be a little disappointed with our school's inability to attract popular artists to the Steps.
However, this post is not about complaining about what happened regarding Bacchanal. It's a proposal to change the way we think about the entire event. It's time that we go back to the basics of bacchanalia.
The problem is that the Bacchanal committee and the campus as a whole has made a rookie mistake when it comes to decision-making. We've lost sight of the fundamental point of Bacchanal and become fixated on an arbitrary element of tradition. Let's break it down
