For the latest installment of a series about the various wacky students that make up the Varsity Show cast and crew, Christin Zurbach sat down with VShow writer John Goodwin.
Christin Zurbach: In past years, you have acted in the Varsity Show. What’s the difference between acting in it and writing for it?
John Goodwin: You’re definitely more attached to it when you’re writing it because it’s your creation. You feel like all of the people who are acting in it are your children almost ... Whereas when you are acting it, you are thinking about your own part in the context of the show. You think, “How many lines do I have? Is my part going to be funny?” But when you are writing it, you are always thinking about the whole show. Sometimes you forget about actors’ individual concerns.
