Discussions about what may lie ahead

College is supposed to prepare you for life in the real world, right? I think so. Does it? That's a whole different story.

Several people complain that college, in general or our institution specifically, falls short of doing what it should in terms of helping people get ready for what is to come in the years ahead. They may like to know that the administration here is making improvements.

It would be good to talk to administrators about their experiences dealing with real-life issues that we may have to face, and while many of us have never had the good fortune to make it to a fireside chat, 21 lucky students at Barnard had an opportunity to talk to President Spar last evening. Spectator's Jessica Stallone has an in-depth account of the event. The discussion focused on reproductive rights—a critical issue in this year's presidential election.
