How did the General Studies Student Council spend its money this year? Madina Toure has those numbers and more from last night's GSSC meeting:
Budget: Given that the school year is coming to a close, the council detailed the current state of its budget:
There is currently $2,700 left in the budget.
The council went over budget for its gala event because of shipping costs for lighting, which were estimated to be $3,500 but ended up being roughly $700 more.
GSSC president Jackie Thong said that the annual senior event will take place, but that the council will not be able to subsidize it as much as it did last year. Seniors had to pay only $10 to go to the event last year, but they will have to pay more this year.
The council will consider decreasing its contribution to Funding at Columbia University at the next F@CU meeting, which takes place during reading week. F@CU decides on funding allocations for the five governing boards. Last year, GSSC increased its contribution by $8,000.
The council spent $22,000 on security funds and set aside $7,000 for the council's reserves, which the amount of money generally set aside in the event of any errors in accounting.
