When Push Comes to Precious

Geoffrey Fletcher is the first African American to win an Oscar for best adapted screenplay. He won the award for Precious, his first major motion picture, based on the novel Push by Sapphire, in 2009. His current project, Attica, is about the Attica Correctional Facility prison rebellion in 1971. Fletcher has been an adjunct professor at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and is currently teaching at Columbia.
