We're all fairly familiar with both Riverside and Morningside parks, two of the closest locations (other than the lawns) where we pretend that we aren't completely surrounded by one of the most urban environments in the world.
But if you've grown jaded or bored with the dog walkers, couples, nannies etc. who are habitually roaming these parks, there's another nearby location: Sakura Park.
And while it's easy to just label it another place to take a nap outdoors, this place has some history, and just celebrated the 100th anniversary of the planting of its namesake: Sakura, or cherry trees. Casey Tolan reported on the ceremony held there on Saturday.
