“So where are you from?”
During orientation week, this became the inevitable question that I dreaded. How could I meet it with anything but a pained smile, when my story is almost impossible to explain?
I grew up on a small farm in Pennsylvania, where my family participates in an activity known as basseting. On Sunday afternoons from October to March, we troop into the frigid air with the Skycastle French Hounds, a pack that has hunted cottontail rabbits in my native Chester County since 1948.
