This week in GSSC: Collaboration and cash

With appointments nearly complete, the General Studies Student Council discussed more substantive funding measures for the upcoming academic year during their third weekly meeting on Tuesday night. Chris Meyer reports from GSSC:

  • A promise in progress: Newly-appointed Community Service Representative Robbie LeDesma, GS ’13, discussed an upcoming plan to unify all available community service opportunities on a Google Document for GS students, an initiative he hopes will make it easier for scholarship students to fulfill community service requirements.
  • Four council cooperation: The council approved measures to create capital investment and travel funds for Columbia student groups. The funds would help clubs with members in any of the four undergraduate schools by providing money for capital investment (e.g. sports equipment) and travel expenses. A similar resolution had already passed student councils in Columbia College, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and Barnard.
