This week in GSSC: USenate update

It was a relatively slow evening for the General Studies Student Council, with the majority of its Tuesday night meeting dominated by updates from GS University Senator Justin Carter. Chris Meyer has the highlights:

Smoking out answers: Carter discussed the initiatives he is working on in the University Senate, including a review of a December 2010 resolution that bans smoking within 20 feet of buildings on the Morningside Heights campus. According to a recent senate report, the resolution has not been enforced.

Welcome back: Carter also urged GS students to welcome the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps back to campus, especially given the large veteran population at GS. He said that despite rumors, the new ROTC office on the first floor of Lerner Hall is not a military recruitment office.
