Today, Barnard celebrates its 123rd birthday, meaning another Founder's Day is almost over. And what exactly does that mean? What happens on this day? That's what one of my professors (...at Barnard) asked, and the whole room answered in unison: "Food."
Founder's Day, like any other great holiday, gets somewhat eclipsed by its edible offerings. But let's all (Barnard and Columbia alike) remember to acknowledge the significance of Barnard and its continued presence as a high-caliber women's college. Spectrum may have joked a few weeks ago, but let's be real: There's more to celebrate here than baked beans and corn.
