After some votes and a few last-minute appointments at its Tuesday night meeting, the General Studies Student Council heard from Columbia College Vice President for Policy Will Hughes, CC ’13, who has been making the rounds in support of the Arts Initiative. Chris Meyer reports:
For the kids: In a unanimous vote, the council allocated $600 to a family-friendly Halloween party, which will largely target GS students with spouses and children. The biggest expense, after food? Pumpkins.
A new voice: The council held interviews for a representative from the Jewish Theological Seminary, which has a joint degree program with GS. Matthew Renick, JTS ’13 and president of JTS’ List College Student Council, said the new representative would not necessarily represent the interests of the LCSC, and would be directly elected by GSSC members.
