It's Election Day: 10 races to watch

Today is Election Day. By the end of the night, we may know who has won the big prize—the presidency—or, if it's a very close race, we may not. We'll be liveblogging the whole fiasco beginning at around 6 p.m. We have reporters on campus and in Harlem covering watch parties. We've even sent Spec news editor Finn Vigeland to Chicago, where he'll be covering President Obama's victory/concession speech and the events leading up to it. We'll also be asking for your thoughts and publishing your stories.

But the presidential race isn't the only fish fry happening today. There are a number of other races to distract you from the potentially long wait before we know who is going to be giving an inaugural address in January. Here's our list.

10 (non-presidential) races to watch

1. NY-Sen: Gillibrand v. Long. There is nothing interesting about this race, and it will almost definitely be called for Gillibrand as soon as the polls close at 9 p.m. But it's in NY so we thought you might want to know.

2. MO-Sen: Akin v. McCaskill. Todd Akin, of "legitimate rape" fame, is seeking to unseat incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill. He was favored to win until he speculated that women have magic vaginas. Because it's Missouri, however, it's still not a sure thing that he'll lose
