Today, Myles Simmons wrote about Columbia football's last home game of the season against Cornell:
The football team will try to get the bitter taste of last week’s 69-0 blowout loss to Harvard out of its mouth as the Light Blue (2-6, 1-4 Ivy) takes on Cornell (4-4, 2-3 Ivy) in the third Empire State Bowl.
As Myles points out, getting that 69-0 loss out of their heads is going to be a huge factor in deciding whether the Lions can come out on top. But if we look back over the years (or at least through 1946, the last year we have stats for), we can learn a little more about how CU might be expected to perform.
Columbia generally performs better than average against Cornell
Since 1946, the Lions are 23-66 against Cornell for a winning percentage of 35%. That's not great, but it's better than our overall winning percentage of 27%
