Most of us saw this news happen before our eyes, with our Facebook newsfeeds overflowing with cyber niceness. The new page, Columbia Compliments, run by a group of anonymous students, managed to put smiles on quite a few faces on campus with its relentless compliments starting Wednesday.
Some distinguished alumni made our headlines this week. A resolution, passed by the USenate last Friday, honored the memory of influential Columbia grad and faculty member Jacques Barzun, who died late last month. On Tuesday, Wally Broecker, CC '53 and the scientist who coined the term "global warming," spoke about the future of climate research, which seems pretty urgent, according to his speech.
