Behind closed doors with Don Goldfarb

Want to know what Interim SEAS Dean Don Goldfarb talked to 27 students about yesterday evening, over hot chocolate and brownies?

So did we. Spectator was denied entry to the event---it was open only to students who had won a lottery---but we asked students who were in the room what they thought. Many were curious as to how Goldfarb would compare to former SEAS Dean Feniosky Peña-Mora, who was well-liked for his charisma and his willingness to interact with students.

The verdict? Goldfarb’s style is definitely different, said Tanya Shah, SEAS ’14, who had been to discussions with Peña-Mora.

“Dean Peña-Mora was a lot better at answering questions, making you feel like you got something out of the conversation," Shah said. "Goldfarb tended to deflect a lot of the time."

The chat was organized by Student Affairs and the Engineering Student Council, and SEAS Vice Dean Soulaymane Kachani and Dean of Student Affairs Kevin Shollenberger were also in attendance. To find out what was discussed, check after the jump.
