The upcoming Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week may be anticipating the latest from American designers, but this week, style hub Fab.com is looking further southeast -- featured this week is African Lookbook, both an online shop for products by African fashion designers and a primary source for interviews with Africans involved in the arts.
Launched in 2012, the site was co-founded by Aaron Philip Kohn, CC ’13, and Philip Aaron Sandick, CC ’05 and OHMA ’09 (Oral History Master of Arts).
Yes, their names are really Aaron Philip and Philip Aaron.
Kohn and Sandick met in Botswana in 2008 and realized their common interest in the arts.
However, what sparked the idea for African Lookbook was a paper Kohn wrote for Professor Zoe Strother’s Contemporary Arts of Africa course.
