It’s late. You’re up. You might be sitting there thinking, "Why am I wasting my time reading the Aeneid? To get a degree? Everyone knows that the best stuff to come out Columbia never graduated from here --- Lou Gehrig, Jack Kerouac, Jake Gyllenhaal. If I drop out now I can get famous!"
Well it just so happens that without Columbia grads, things like Star Wars would never have happened. Here's five people who have made a lasting impact by sticking it out and getting that CU degree.
1. David O. Selznick & Gone With The Wind
You might say, "Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn." Well, that line you’re saying wouldn't be half as famous as it is today if not for Dave, because when every other movie producer was too scared to make Gone With The Wind, he did.
He pulled it off so well, he got himself an Oscar for Best Picture for the movie. He also won that same Oscar the year after!
But speaking of culturally relevant, this next guy takes the cake...
2. Joseph Campbell & No More Star Wars
