For Magda Sawon, co-owner of Postmasters Gallery in Chelsea, Hurricane Sandy produced one of the rarest and most overwhelming of vignettes.
Sawon watched as water filled her gallery basement to the brim, then reversed, barely sparing the works of art on the ground floor from the barrage of water that devastated galleries throughout the area.
