Fashion Week: An insider's struggle

New York Fashion Week: a time of high stress, high fashion and high blood pressure throughout the island of Manhattan.

Beginning tomorrow and ending on the 14th, this week will feature all the top designers and brands convening in Manhattan and single-handedly deciding---to quote Heidi Klum---“what’s in and what’s out.”

With all the superstar designers downtown, you may be wondering how Fashion Week relates to Columbia. Well, look no further: CC first-year Emmeline Clein knows exactly what it is like to be behind the scenes at such a high-speed event.

Emmeline Clein is the assistant of Elizabeth Lippman, a “freelance photographer who shoots fashion posts for [the] NY Times, NY Post and Vogue.com,” and will be participating in Fashion Week as an intern.

During high school, Emmeline recalls skipping a week of school to travel to New York for this very same week in order to assist Lippmann by carrying equipment, taking notes, and uploading photos to the Vogue server.

As if this isn’t already the best internship of all time, Emmeline has had some crazy encounters with celebrities that even PrezBo can’t top.
