This week in ESC: a new pass/fail policy?

Want to chat with SEAS Interim Dean Don Goldfarb? Curious about the new pass/fail policy ESC is working on? Lillian Chen brings you the highlights from last night’s Engineering Student Council meeting:

  • Pass/fail woes: ESC Vice President of Policy Bora Kim, SEAS ’13, presented to the council about the new pass/fail policy for non-tech courses that the policy committee has been working on. Currently, SEAS students receive no credit for courses they choose to pass/D/fail. Kim said that this policy likely discourages students from taking more difficult courses that they are more interested in in favor of easier courses. However, Kim noted that SEAS students have a much later drop deadline than CC students, and this deadline would likely have to be changed in some way to allow for the new pass/fail policy, if it passes with the administration.
