Over the last few months, I’ve heard a lot of people argue that love doesn’t exist at our school. There’s just no time for relationships, they say. Young people suck at dating, some opine. It’s just that our options are extraordinarily limited, others insist. Whatever the reason, the verdict is the same: We want nothing to do with love. Leave us alone. Ain’t nobody got time for feelings and shit.
Now, although it’s no secret that I subscribe to a wildly different worldview, usually when I hear these arguments, I let them slide. After all, everyone is entitled to an opinion. “I’ll do love stories and you do you, boo,” I say, chilling on the high road, casually taking a walk to remember.
But dammit, guys, it’s both Valentine’s Week and Random Acts of Kindness Week.
