A look at CUCR's marriage equality support

Last night, as I gulped down my beer at Havana Central in the wee hours of the morning, I discovered that the College Republicans of the Ivy League ganged up with Ivy League Democrats to support gay marriage.

What else can I say? What else do you expect me to say? I'm ecstatic as heck. I'm mildly frustrated that it took until 2013 to happen, but I'm proud that it's happening all the same.

From a Columbia-specific perspective, this many not seem like much. We were, after all, the first school of higher education in the U.S. to have an LGBTQ organization. Our First Friday dances thrive with sex-positivity and we still remember Furnald's lounge as a memorial to Stephen Donaldson. Pro-gayness is nothing new for us.
