Because I just did not get my fill of Valentine's Day related content, I decided to see what Spec was up to 50 years ago and clicked around the archives.
From a title which at first glance I mistook as commentary for a particularly sad Valentine's Day/massage policy, I learned a bit about how yesteryear's Varsity Show plays were selected and a bit about what 1963's play, titled "No Happy Endings," was about.

You can read all of February 14, 1963's issue online here, with the option to save it on your computer as a PDF as well.
Although The Varsity Show, just like many other Columbia traditions, is really really old and really well-known, it was exciting to find a concrete cellulose connection with the past.
The players in "No Happy Endings," however, did not get the kind of publicity available to this year's cast.

Happy endings indeed.
